One of my favorites: Side Street Saloon on W. George St. in Lake View.

I always order delivery from them so I don't how their sit down pizza is in comparison.

You're right - they do have surprisingly good pizza.

I would like to thank Yelp for my growing love handles.

I've never had a good pizza in Chicago. The sauce is usually like ketchup or there is too little or too much cheese. Go to NY for a real pizza.

Only on the Chicago board.

Wow, I can't believe that place is still around. That was a regular lunch stop for me some 11-12 years ago when I was a dog walker and had clients in the neighborhood. They had a great ribeye sandwich. The gentrification of the Southport corridor wasn't complete yet -- it was about 75% there -- and Side Street seemed to be the last refuge for the old-timers who hadn't cashed in and gotten out yet. I figured by now their clientele would be gone and Side Street along with them.

Fascinating. Please give us some clear examples of places that have too much cheese, as distinct from too little.

Take your time, you'll need it...

I'm waiting for the complaint that Chicago isn't a 24/7 Pizza town like New York. Oh, the horror!

Ha. Please.

Go watch the episode of Man v Food where the host (born and raised in Brooklyn) eats Chicago pizza and says it's better than NYCs.

Well deep dish it's hands down Uno's. I could live off that stuff, it's like heaven. For thin crust the best I can remember is when I lived in Berwyn, eating Villa Nova's pizza.
