Ahh, thanks for reminding me. Their pizza is indeed awesome, and I completely forgot about them. I won't this weekend though

good to hear - any suggestions?

in recent weeks we've been feasting on Chicago's deep dish with broccoli, garlic & onion (3 ingredient coupon got me again), I've made a few previously meat topping-only converts.

Oh, and most importantly - Da Joolz gave up on their short lived attempt to jack up the price on their frozen deep dish pizzas by Gino's East. Back to $6, a total steal!

They had a location in Humboldt Park but it appears to be shut down.

Well, to clarify, Dante's makes a New York (Or some would say New Haven) style of pizza, they have a number of specialty pizzas, but honestly, I've stuck with good ol' pepperoni and mushroom so far, and been very happy at the quality, and that I've finally found someone who will deliver to me, since I am just barely (less than a block) out of Piece and Santullo's delivery range.

I've heard people say both, but I don't know the distinction, so I don't know which one is correct.
What I do know is that it's delicious!

Piece is New Haven-style as identified by the irregular/oblong shape with a crust almost like a very shallow bowl that gradually raises up to a puffy edge. There are two basic styles, red and white. The red use a thin layers of tomato sauce and either a sprinkling of mozzarella (not "piled on" like a more traditional pizza style) or parmesan/romano; while white dispenses with the tomato sauce and uses mozzarella. Looking at a picture of a slice on Dante's facebook and seeing the menu often refers to garlic sauce on the pizza (as opposed to tomato sauce), it does look a little more New Haven than New York.

Indeed, going by my experience at Sally's in New Haven: crust was limp and tough, lousy cheese, bland sauce and bad sausage; Dominoes is better. It LOOKED great though. Doubly disappointing because we jumped in the car on the spur of the moment and drove to New Haven just to a get a pizza.
