Hi, I'm planning on moving to Chicago and came accross two potential places to live and wanted to see if anyone knew how safe these areas were or if I should avoid them all together.

Taylor and Loomis near Little Italy and UIC and N. Bosworth Ave in I believe Bucktown. Any feedback would be greatly appreciasted. Thanks

Both of these areas are nice. They both went through major gentrification over the past 10 years. If you like the college-town vibe then move to Little Italy; if you like the yuppy/artsy vibe them move to Bucktown. Little Italy is closer to Downtown, Bucktown is closer to Lincoln Park. These areas are relatively safe for city standards. It's not like the suburbs where safety is almost guaranteed. You still have to make sure all doors are locked, to watch you back at night, etc. I don't know if you are a male of female, but carry some mace.

If you wanna move south you should also look at the South loop and Brideport (east of Halsted, IMO).

UIC location is much closer to some not so great west side neighborhoods but you also have to be careful about spillover from Humboldt Park in Bucktown. Both have cute restaurants and shops but Bucktown is a little more yuppified in my opinion.

If I were looking in Bucktown, I would want to be between ashland and damen. Bosworth is pretty close to expressway

My company, My Town Realty Group, specializes in helping people who are new to the city. We take them around and spend 1/2 the day with them. It is free, too! You should check us out.

As far as answering your question, I would like to know where you're going to be working, commuting, do you run at night, all those things to go over some ideas.

Look us up - we are AWESOME!
