RCN is giving me an offer for 30$ for 10mbp down for a year, with cable modem included. I heard comcast has better speed however more expensive, plus they charge a rent fee for modem (what?!). Any one had experience with RCN speed and service? Which one should i go with. Thanks!

I didn't know Evanston was a neighborhood in the City of Chicago. It is not. Get used to it. If you tell people you live in the city and they ask where, and you respond Evanston, people will laugh at you. (or behind your back)
Anyway, I would go with RCN. Comcast sucks in comparison. Yes, I have had both.
