Default Why do you need three bedrooms?

Is the plan to have three roommates? You might not really save anything getting a three bedroom and two roomates vsmjust getting one rommie and splitting a two bedroom.

Especially if you are serious about Loop -- you will competing with very well hewed familes for a small number of three bedrooms.

Have you looked at the chicagoreader apartment finder?

While there are furnished three-bedroom apartments available in the Loop and vicinity, none of them will be priced at a level most people would consider to be "reasonable." The vast majority of funished apartments in the Loop area are targeted toward businesses providing temporary housing for executives or other high-value employees. Which means they tend to be priced at about $2,000 + $1,000/bedroom per month. So a furnished studio runs about $2,000/month, a 1-bedroom is about $3,000, a 2-bedroom about $4,000, a furnished 3-bedroom would likely command in the area of $5,000/month.

You can certainly find places that will be less than that, but not many, and not hugely less since 3-bedroom places are much less common than 2-bedroom places downtown.

You may be able to find a sublet from someone on a long-term assignment or something, but those situations are harder to find and require more searching.

Tell us more about why you need the space, how long you need it, and what your price range is and we may be able to offer suggestions that perhaps you hadn't considered.

Thank you all for your reply. Renting a 2 bedroom apartment isn't a bad idea. As for how long we're staying maybe from one year to 2 years maximum.
Our monthly price range is $2400 and we're moving in at the end of March + didn't know loop was so expansive

Thanks again

You're much better off looking outside of downtown. Lakeview would be a solid option and prices for a 3 bedroom would be much lower, though your commute to DePaul's loop campus would be longer (like a half hour on the train).

You should be able to get a real nice 3 bedroom in your price range. Just check Craigslist.

If you're going ot be there up to 2 years, it'd probably be cheaper to rent unfurnished and furnish it yourself with inexpensive furniture from Ikea or elsewhere and then sell/give away everything when you leave.

Seriously, if you save $1,000/month going unfurnished vs. furnished and you planned on staying 18 months, you'd have a furniture budget of $18,000.

Default Making a move to chicago

Hey I am from Cincinnati looking to move to chicago this spring. for a job transfer..and I was looking forward to live on a budget-restricted lifestyle and I was wondering where can I find" professional-rented" apartments where I can go half with a roommate at a reasonable price?( price range 500- 700.)

Depending on what you mean by "professional-rented" and what part of town you want to live in, probably not assuming you mean furnished corporate housing.
