What is the best place to go sledding within 2-3 hours of Chicago? Also is there any rental there?

What would people here recommend?

Sledding?
Like kids sledding down a hill? Or a place actually dedicated to sledding, skiing, and snowboarding?

I believe the Peoria Park District has always had at least one hill open for sledding. The park district and the Peoria Ski Club have been around for 50 years. One or both will be able to answer your questions. I never heard of charging to use the park hills to sled. I don't know of any rentals, but you could ask the ski club. Peoria Ski Club Informational and Club Sponsored Ski Trip Website.

Depending upon where you live, the route you take, and your destination,.Peoria should be between 2.5 - 3.5 hours from your home. If the destination is Detweiller Park,. the most direct route is IL 26 south at Princeton to IL 29 south to Detweiller Park Entrance (near the marina). The City of Chillecothe in just before Peoria on IL 29 and it may have a hill open too. .

Dedicated preferred.

Looks like there is something in Warrenville, any comments?

Also found one in Kewaskum, WI north of Milwaukee.

maybe you'll have a bit more luck if you look for places that does tubing as opposed to sledding. I've found, at least when I lived in MA, that tubing was more popular at ski resorts, where they would have dedicated lanes for tubers, complete w/ a "lift" (more like a handlebar you hung on to as it dragged up up the hill) and separate lanes where you could race friends

Lake Bluff's park district has a sledding hill but I don't know if it's amazing enough to drive 45 minutes for!

Yeah I don't mind driving a few hours if there is something worth it.

There is a nice hill south of Soldier Field with free parking. It can tide you over until you can get 2-3 hours away.
