Do you have any tips on where I can find coupons for Chicago restaurants?
I'd like to avoid the Entertainment book if at all possible. Thanks!

There is a scrappy Chicago startup company, with curiously little publicity recently, named Groupon.

They have coupons.

Groupon, Living Social, OpenTable all have daily deals. The Trib's website also has some deals via 'Chicago Shopping.'

I'm sure there are plenty of others.

www.restaurant.com - the usual basic deal is $10 for a $25 certificate (must spend total of $35 to as much as $50 in some cases) But they are always running coupon codes for 70%-90% off, so a $25 certificate could cost as little as $1. The current code, which looks like it expires tonight, is SPOON. It's for 80% off, so the price is $2 for a $25 certificate.

^I use those quite a bit. It's definitely worth it to use Yelp to help determine which restaurants are worth it, and yes, you always end up spending money anyway, but we've had some pretty good food for a pretty low price!

I would recommend Groupon also. You can get a lot of great deals to all sorts of restaurants and other businesses in Chicago.

They've actually been getting tons of publicity lately. The creator of Groupon was featured in Forbes magazine, among several other publications and Time Out Chicago had several articles dedicated to Groupon in one of their December issues.
