Can anyone tell me about the Wrigleyville? Apartments, the location, demographics, attractions that are close, distance from the lake, etc.
My wife and I are trying to figure out which area is best for us. We are mid-20's, with a dog, and would like to experience living in a big city!
Thanks!

We have seen some pics of some "brownstone" looking apartments. Are those plentiful in the Wrigleyville area, or is that a misconception I have from looking at pics on the internet?

Given your demographic description, there's probably no better place for you in Chicago than Wrigleyville (and yes, brownstones are typical there). Wrigleyville is part of Lakeview, which borders Lincoln Park to the north and together represent the two most popular neighborhoods for young singles and couples.

Attractions? Probably the highest concentration of bars/clubs/restaurants in the city, at least those catering to the demographic I described; tons of shopping, both independent and chain; Wrigley Field, which is in many ways the world's largest beer garden; very close proximity to the lakefront (with a 9-hole golf course between Addison and Irving Park); good public transit.

The only real drawbacks as I see them (and I speak as someone who lived in Lakeview in my 20s, but left for a downtown neighborhood when I started having kids) are a scene that is often described as overly post-collegiate frat-boy, and a little bit of a lengthy commute to downtown (by city standards, often due to congestion for buses and slow zones for trains).

All of this is true, incluing "Chad and Betty," some sort of post Big Ten frat and sorority crowd feel.lol...though others exist too.

...Metro music venue is there too.

depending on your funds, likes, dislikes, Lincoln Park, borders this area and is also up your alley.

If these two areas don't please you, there are others as well to choose from.

I'm 26 and liked living in Wrigleyville (tons of bars, safe, close to lake) but I moved to West Lakeview because of traffic for Cubs games (and screaming from them) and drunk frat boys. I love my new neighborhood (and I can walk to a dog park...there is wiggly field in wrigleyville area, but my dog hates it) :-)
There are a ton of brownstones. Here's a hint though: don't get too close to Wrigley!!

I noticed that you also wrote about safety. There are CONSTANTLY people around in Wrigleyville, so you would feel pretty safe walking the dog at night,, etc
