How about alternative electro - where can I dance to La Roux and IAMX, and not hip hop or house? Thanks!

My parents were more Big Chill soundtrack than Dead Kennedys. So no punk rock shows at the age of eight for me! A kid raised in that environment would probably be leading the Christian Coalition today... Like Alex Keaton times ten.

Is your screname a reference to Lookout Records? Every time I see your screen name, I'm reminded of Lookout Records and more specifically, Operation Ivy.

Other places that are a bit more up-market but generally cater to the same crowd and showcase the same type of indie bands are Martyr's, Beat Kitchen, Schuba's, and Kinetic Playground.
Punk rock = hipster? Someone is misinformed.

More like someone can't read for comprehension.

He asked for punk and alternative bars. Avenger provided him with the former, and I the latter.

I'm not some huge Dylan fan, but that's just sick and wrong. Anthony Kedis makes me want to slam my head repeatedly with a two-by-four.

I think someone mentioned the Fireside Bowl too. Here's a radio story on the history and reopening of their punk night.
