No, as I said the West Side.

Crawford Ave. is the old name of Pulaski Rd. Many old time West Siders like me still call it Crawford; it's a matter of style and a way of recognizing each other and distinguishing ourselves. I'm trying to keep old traditions alive.

Haha, I respect that. Wouldn't it be a shame if our city didn't have respect for the historic names of places? Imagine if a landmark building suddenly changed its name overnight. That would just be ridiculous!

I can't really speak on "Up North" but "Out West" you have Madison and Pulaski and that's all I know about there. As far as "Out South" it's not so much downtown as much as where people shop at. 63rd and Halsted used to be big for shopping but not anymore since they moved Kennedy King up there. 79th between King Drive and Cottage has shopping and restuarants as does 87th & Cottage. 95th around Beverly near Evergreen Plaza is a big shopping area. Out in the "wild hundreds" at 111th St to 115th St and Michigan is a big shopping center for the neighborhood like what 63rd used to be. 79th St and Cicero has Ford City and all the big box stores. Growing up I used to also go to 47th and Ashland for Goldblatts and my grandma used to bank over there. 47th St between State and King Drive has shopping too. Really I only felt the need to go up north or out west if I wanted to see what other stores had to offer or different cuisines but really I have most of what I need out here on the south side.

In all of these years I've never made that connection.

Down in the south burbs, Oak Lawn-Evergreen Park, it becomes Crawford again. Then Pulaski again further south by Mt. Greenwood and then Crawford again further south.
