I will soon start a job in Glenview but I live in Downtown Chicago. I would love to leave a beater car at the Glenview Metra station and use it daily to drive to work after getting off the train and then leave at the station each evening after boarding the train home to downtown Chicago. Unfortunately, it appears that overnight parking is barred at the Glenview station. I certainly don't want to sit in highway traffic twice a day. Does anyone have any ideas or know of possible overnight and weekend parking options? Thanks much.

How about riding a bicycle? You can park that overnight at the station. Or you can even take it on the train. Bicycles are generally allowed on trains that leave Chicago before 3:00 P.M or after 7:00 P.M. or arrive after 9:30 A.M. Weekends are dicey; allowed some but not all. Or Northbrook used to allow overnight parking.

Maybe you can park your car in a parking lot nearby, like a shopping center. Just make sure to park it in a different spot each day.

There are several threads that mention folks leaving a car in the 'burbs. Most of the municipalities do NOT allow this in there official Metra lots, however it can generally be worked out to rent a space from a private firm / land owner. Some of the churches allow this kind of thing, as to car repair shops, small businesses, apartment owners and even home owners.

Some of the employers are also located along the Pace bus routes that connect back to the Metra stops, and a handful of employers have private shuttle / car pooling efforts.
