Relocating to IL and am considering Hoffman Estates. How long of a commute is it to Glenview from Hoffman Estates? Google maps puts at 18 miles and 39 minutes along Palantine. Any comments?

It depends where in Hoffman Estates. If you are near Roselle Road, you could always take Central all the way (it's parallel and north of Golf Road). I commute from western part of Schaumburg to Skokie (east of Glenview) and it's between 40 minutes - 50 minutes at 6:30 p.m. The worst part of the commute is actually near Skokie on Golf Road.

If you're considering Hoffman Estates then the best route (depending on where in Glenview you are going) would be to use Euclid Rd. at Roselle and drive through Arlington Heights.

But really, if you can afford Hoffman Estates, then why not just cut the commute in half and move to Arlington Heights or Mount Prospect. They are much nicer municipalities. They have nice traditional downtowns and a great selection of housing options and very good schools.

I agree totally with mendelman above! Why spend 2 -3 hours a day commuting. Plus gas is over $3.15 a gallon here. Plenty of stop lights if you are traveling surface roads.
