Ever since the demise of Stein's in Lyons the places in the burbs that actually cook their pastrami or corned beef are limited to about NONE...

There are places that will assemble decent sandwiches from the standard Vienne Beef offerings which is not bad...) but the extra flavor / aroma / variance that comes from the in-house prep of the meat is gone.

You live in Chicagoland now, who needs that NY slop? Time to step up and graduate to better things.

Most of the delis in the suburbs seem to be Italian, not Jewish, but there is a Schmaltz on Naper near I-88. Their pastrami is pretty good.

OK, so I was watching the hungry hound on channel 7 news and he covered some delis and I thought of this thread. Check out the channel 7 news website and look for hungry hound. Maybe this could point you in the right direction.

Trust me, I know what it is like to crave food from places you have lived!
