Hi everyone,

I have heard very differing views concerning Des Plaines and wanted to get your input...

Has the city improved as far as safety, property values, and overall development? Would you live there (why or why not)?

Specifically, how is the area by Greenwood and Dempster?

TIA!

As far as cities go, Des Plaines is a very diverse city. The people there range from lower to upper middle class and so there are nice places to live and not so nice. But Dempster and Greenwood are in Niles.

yeah what you were looking at was on the border of Morton Grove and Niles

and yeah i live right by there and its pretty nice. i mean its changed a lot since i was younger meaning there's a lot more enforced rules that kinda suck but make it a very nice neighborhood.

There is a Greenwood Dr in DesPlaines, near Golf Mill Mall. This is NOT that same Greenwood Ave in Niles.

Though the rentals and such near Golf Mills are not the most desirable section of town the safety aspect is no worse than other towns that have large rental complexes.

I think these are the same road, as the Villiage of Niles lists the only Greenwood Ave. as intersecting Golf and Milwaukee near Golf Mill Mall

It's the same road. Greenwood, near Dempster is just east of the hospital. This is the boundary for Niles/Des Plaines and Park Ridge. One block makes a difference.

It's a diverse area, not particularily prone to crime beyond retail theft, common everywhere there is shopping.
