It is impossible, I think it should be broken down in regions:
Northern, Northwest, Western, Fox Valley, southwest, and south

Honorable mention (in addition to my list):

Flosmoor
River Forest
Riverside
Berwyn
Western Springs
The rest of the North Shore

Yeah, "one of those kids is doing his own thing". I realize I've listed somewhat wealthy suburbs almost entirely, with the exception of Berwyn. Guilty as charged. But I do have a special affinity for Berwyn. And I thought about putting Cicero on there for Freddy's alone. And I guess Evanston and Oak Park have "less wealthy" parts to them, so I'm not a total snob. I'm mainly basing this list on architecture, nice downtown areas, train access, proximity to downtown, crime, and development patterns. You'll never see Oak Brook or any of the Barringtons on my "favorite suburb list". Not in a million years.

In order:

Wealthy: Flossmoor
Upper Middle class: Homewood, Tinley Park, Orland Park
Middle class: Hazel Crest, Country Club Hills, Oak Forest
Low income: Well, then it wouldn't be my favorite

I believe people should take advantage of the affordable housing the south suburbs offer. There are nice older homes, and newer homes that would be wonderful if someone would just move in and call them home. People forget that an area never gets better if no one moves in and makes their face seen.

The south suburbs are suffering because instead of people staying put, they run when they see change. If only people understood (by the example of Beverly in Chicago) staying put is a better idea, AND it saves your neighborhood from ruin.

But anyway, onto the N Suburbs:

Since most of them are upper middle class to stankin' filthy rich anywho:

Winnetka
Glencoe
The "Barinngtons"
Kenilworth
Villa Park (could use some work)

One of the few south suburbs that was able to obtain its racial diversity is Blue Island. Its more hispanic, but there still is a fair blend of latinos, blacks, and whites.

It's actually not my favorite because it needs slight work. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice place to shop, work, or live, but it needs some "brightening up." It needs streetlights and better maintained parks. I would live there, no reservations, but I think for it to be bordered by Beverly and Morgan Park, it could try to keep the continuity. The homes in BI are B E A U T I F U L! Don't miss out on them. I have many friends who either live or work in that area, and they love it

I think parts of BI are in Alsip's school district, which is not bad at all. I am a future schoolteacher, and I would not mind teaching there. At least I'd be around well behaved, grateful middle class children, instead of the other alternatives: ghetto and ungrateful or wealthy/upper class and ungrateful.

Remember people: GHETTO GOES BOTH WAYS.

Sorry for the digression, continue on with the suburb comparison!
