There seems to be quite a few registered sex offenders in both Geneva and St. Charles which is surprising is to me considering their location and size. Am I missing something or are there more sex offenders in this area than in other western suburbs? By the addresses, they seem to reside most often in the older/downtown neighborhoods. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Default keep in mind

One or the other of those towns has a correctional facility. I live in Wheaton; we too have a large # of offenders, but they are usually concentrated in low cost pockets of housing AND the county jail. That is probably the case in those two towns. I wouldn't panic about it.

you have to keep in mind that the courts now a days are making people register for sex offenses for small things such as exposing yourself in public. the person then has to register and the registry never says what they actually did just that they are a registered offender.

keep this in mind: if there is a sex offender in your area, they BY LAW must check in with their probation officers (or respective authority figure) and most of the time, they are not allowed to live within X number of feet of a school or park or area that would have children.

hope that helps settle your worries.

Does your state of the laws saying that sex offenders have to be a certain distance away from places where children congregate?? If so that might explain a concentration like that...

There are some cities here in Florida that sex offenders can't live because they are too many churches, parks and places in general where children congregate...

The moral of the story, buy a house close enough to an area like that so you don't have them around.

Having had a daughter endure such an assault(which is what it is) I take exception that this is a "small thing".Its a sick individual purpously terrifyng someone and they are indeed sex offenders

It doesn't mean that there won't be child molestors around. If anything, they would congregate to these neighborhoods more often because they know that is where the children are.

Read about the laws...

There are laws that say they can't live near these areas...those are the addresses that are listed in the sex offender lists, their home address and work addresses, these can not be within a certain number of yards to where children congregate, its different depending on the state and sometimes the town you live in...

Of course thats not to say that on their lunch break they might not go there to watch the children but then they risk being picked up and taken back to jail...because being a registered sex offender means you have already offended once...if these men are caught hanging around where children congregate, they will go right back to jail where they belong...
