I'm relatively new to the Chicago suburbs and am looking for some recommendations for barber shops that do fades and fauxhawks (more conservative ones). I'm in the western suburbs and would be willing to drive. I'm not looking for a place that rushes you in and out. I'm not opposed to an ethic shop that specializes in these types of cuts. Thank you for your suggestions.

Wow, good luck with that gmmt. The days of "real" barber shops are over. Tons of chain/coupon quick cuts. I'd just keep my eyes open as you drive for the old barber pole. Best of luck.

King's barber shop in downtown wheaton is just what you are looking for. They have everything from the old TV built into the wall to the straight razors sharpened on a slab of leather for the best shave you will get. I highly recommend it

I agree, Kings Barber shop in Wheaton on Indiana is old school. There is also Sheridan's on Main St. in Wheaton and Ken's on Roosevelt Road behind Seven Dwarfs (near the Glen Ellyn/Wheaton border). All have been around for decades.

Thank you for the suggestion. Would you happen to know if this shop does faux hawks? I had never heard of the shop and was wondering what you know about their work. Is it a one-person shop or multiple barbers? I appreciate the help.

It's a multi barber shop. The owner, a guy and a woman. They have a brisk business. Customers are all men of all ages....boys going with their dads, and men 18-90. They also do straight razor shaves. I'm not sure about faux hawks. You should call and ask them. Let me know if you check them out.

Just a quick question concerning barbershops. I've never been to one, and I was wondering if a simple buzz cut at a barbershop is cheaper than getting one at chain places like Supercuts. Anyone know?

Supercuts are generally a bit cheaper ... on the other hand, I have never been to one where the staff has been able to give me a decent haircut. I guess you get what you are willing to pay for.

Yea, my haircuts are very simple, I just get a buzzcut with the shortest #1 buzzer setting. Haha, I'm low maintenance.
