Hey guys ,

I am moving from New York City to Chicago for job purpose.
WHich Chicago suburb is safer & cheaper ? I have wife & a brand new car.

Looking for place where lower crime rate is ( no car theft, no car broken ) ? Which place?

Thanks

Ok coming from NYC, what do you think is cheap? If you're coming from there, $1500 a month for a 1 bed room apt is cheap. What do you consider cheap?

Along with needing to know your price range, also, need to know where you'll be working. In the loop?

Well, without knowing any of that, Brookfield is relatively safe, and has good schools.

Hey edykumar, where in New York City are you moving from? And where in the Chicago area will your new job be located?

From your screenname, I can almost guess you're desi (Indian), but then again you can never be too sure. In any case, the Indian / Pakistani (desi) population in the Chicago area is definitely the largest in the Midwest, so you won't have a problem when it comes time to find a great restaurant, or stock up on some Indian groceries. The retail / shopping hub of Chicago's Indian community at least in the city is definitely Devon Avenue on the far north side of town in the West Rogers Park neighborhood. Taking a stroll through Devon Ave is going to be the closest thing to taking a stroll through the heart of the Jackson Heights neighborhood in Queens, NY. Very large Indian populations can also be found in a variety of suburban areas such as the near North (ie. Skokie, Morton Grove, Niles, Glenview, etc.), Northwest (Des Plaines, Schaumburg, Palatine, Wheeling, Buffalo Grove, etc.) & Western suburbs (Naperville, Westmont, Darien, Downers Grove, Oak Brook, Burr Ridge, etc.) throughout the metropolitan area. It will definitely help to have something in New York to compare to (such as where you currently live, and where you'll new job here will be). Good luck!
