There's 130 of them in Cook County and add in the 5 collar counties its close to 300. Lots to choose from. The two original suburbs were Evanston and Oak Park.

I think of one of the many railroad suburbs established 100 years ago as mostly residential but after the World War II boom expanded and added commercial land uses, including corporate headquarters. Palatine, Downers Grove, and Northbrook are examples.

I think of either Winnetka or Naperville. Probably because I hear of those ones the most.

Schaumburg, Illinois - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Although a lot of time the first image that pops into my mind is Oak Park along with schaumburg. I was going to take a dig at my own city and say Milwaukee.

Probably Lake Forest. It's that typical town where the men take the train to their office each day and the ladies lunch. And of course the old Marshall Fields right by the station for Mr to pick up a gift on his way home.
