How do you look for a roommate???? I am using roommates.com and Craigslist, but all I get is guys wanting to live with me. My ad says I might be open to another male college student, but I really don't want to be living with so almost 30 year old guy. I'd be fine with a female of that age but I donno. I think it's odd for a guy who is almost 30 to be living with a college freshmen. So any suggestions???

Sorry but I had to laugh out loud at this. I'm just picturing a guy sitting in his underwear at 2 pm, trolling craigslist for young co-eds to room with and thinking "I hope this chick is hot"...

Do you belong to any civic groups or church? Most of my younger female friends find roommates through theater clubs, church groups, or something of that nature.

I've only been here about 8 weeks(I moved from NH) so finding groups/people is hard.

If I were you, I'd make every effort to live alone in the short term and meet people through school. In six months, you'll know plenty of potential roommates!

I have a 2 bedroom place so really need a roommate asap to help cut the costs. I dont need to be friends with them, just have someone who isn't a 30 year old man. There $750 a month would help SO much.

Well if I were you I wouldnt live with a 30 year old guy either. From a guys point of view... I dont have a room mate and if I ever got one I would want it to be a female. Just cause I would think they would be a bit more organized and I like a clean place. That being said I would keep it around my age range but Im in my 20s.

I'm not sure a 29 yo man would be an improvement over a 30 yr old man. Let's just say, they tend to think alike.

In this day and age please be careful Samma - also be sure they will be kind to your new dog .

I would ask for referrals from friends. If you are working now someone may know somebody looking for a room to rent. I agree with going through the school to find a room mate. You might also consider a flight attendant - they are gone a lot and you live near a major hub (O'Hare).
