Well now, Illinois is an equal opportunity state. BOTH Democrat and Republican Governors have been convicted of felonies. NOw if we could maybe stop focusing on labels and trying to shove party agendas down people's throats, COMPROMISE and get things done this would be a much better state. Blagojevich (Native American for "Deer Caught In Headlights") and Todd (I love taxing you to fund my re-election & job security) Stroger are a joke! But look at the long list of really compelling candidiates the Republican Party has offered the last several years.
Maybe it's time to start focusing on being American instead of Republican or Democrat?
OP, how about a balanced suburb like Arlington Heights? Leans Republican, but many Democrats as well. Lawn signs don't get trashed, we just agree to disagree and continue being friends and neighbors.

If you can afford it, Hinsdale is the most Republican place I know of, and when you see the cars and homes it stands to reason. But be forewarned: we're talking the big money variety of Republican. If, for example, you are a NASCAR Republican, people are going to think you are a chump.

If Hinsdale is over your head, you also might want to look into Lemont. It used to be extremely redneck, but has been overrun by Lithuanians in recent years (Lithuanians HATE Commies), so it might be a place to consider if you are looking for something more affordable.

Republican is not to be equated with conservative.

And now for something completely unrelated: Winnetka is usually a top 10 donor (by zip code) to the Republican party and has highly regarded schools. Expensive place to live, though.

The OP did not define what he meant be "conservative". Since he didn't define it, one is left to wonder whether his conservatism is religious, fiscal, or both? [mod cut]
