I recently moved from the city and miss all the dining options of Chicago! Surely there are some worthy restaurants in the suburbs too? Whenever I try to look up stuff online I just find chains. So everyone, share your favorite non-chain restaurant in the suburbs! I’m on the north side, but am happy to hear about all areas. Let me know I don’t have to go into the city to get a decent meal!

I’m mostly interested in hearing about more upscale places, but really am happy to hear about any place you love!

Didn’t you buy in Glencoe?

Hop on the metra and stop to explore Highwood. Plenty of good options there. Miramar, DiSotto, Longitud315, Del Rio, Alex’s Washington Gardens, Froggys. I also like Abigail’s American Bistro in HP, by the Ravinia (neighborhood) metra stop.

I also recommend the following local forum for in detail discussion of restaurants throughout Chicagoland.

LTH Logistics, Inc.

Meson Sabika - Naperville. It's a Spanish restaurant in a mansion. Gorgeous, and great food.

Downtown Naperville also has a Hugo Frog's Bar (and a Sullivan's, and a Catch 35)

In Wheaton, Ivy is a very nice restaurant that used to be a church.

Fire & Wine in downtown Glen Ellyn is great.

Honestly, this thread really isn't necessary. You can hop on Eater or Chicago Magazine and find comprehensive lists and reviews of restaurants in the city and suburbs.
