Pancakes and breakfast (in Wilmette, but close by on Green Bay Road). It has opened more locations, but this is the original and we went there quite often. The decor is very cool - stained glass windows.

I second all of those places.

nana, I was wondering if you've been right next door to it to Peppercorns Kitchen? I was very impressed with the quality and flavor of their food. It did seem to be Chinese owned and operated and, from what I saw, had a large Asian clientele. It also got a sense that the number of Asian students and other parts of the NU community plays a good part of the success of this place.

I would put Evanston the #1 restaurant town in the suburbs today.

Tallgrass in Lockport is wonderful.

Someone mentioned Ivy in Wheaton and I also agree on that one. We go there about twice a year and it is amazing.

Love Paris Bistro in Naperville

I'd recommend Hearth in Evanston as something I tried relatively recently. It replaced Trio and Quince in The Homestead.
