At the very least I think it is accurate to say that Oberweis has no political moves. He can't run a campaign and has proved that repeatedly. Now may be the time to give it a rest because he's coming off as dilettantish.

Also, In general, I think the republican party has cracks in the armor, nothing to do with individual candidates necessarily.
Oberweis and a lot of conservative Republicans in general thought that illegal immigration would be their winning issue, so they kept hammering at it. What was demonstrated in the 2006 mid-term elections, though, is that outside of a core group of people (many of whom seem to frequent this site's political forums), the negative and sometimes downright nasty tone was more of a turn-off to moderate voters than anything else.

That being said, Oberweis milk is worth the extra cost at the grocery store - once you start drinking it, regular milk tastes like water.

I think he should take the hint and stick with the ice cream and move out of politics.

He's only won a primary once, according to my count. The GOP has not been nominating him.

I feel that if a politician is successful in business it helps them know what to do with government money. Mitt Romney has that same exact problem along with being Mormon.
Mitt Romney was a horrible governor who's biggest contribution to the state budget was to shift the financial burben from the state to cities and towns further highlighting the income inequalities from town to town. If that's what electing a successful businessman is supposed to get us I'll take a career politician thanks.

In this case, it had everything to do with the individual candidate. The 14th District seat was his to lose, and that's exactly what he did. A chimpanzee wearing a propeller beanie could have won that seat just by virtue of having an R next to his name on the ballot. Oberweis runs absolutely nasty campaigns that manages to alienate people who would otherwise have voted for him if he'd just keep his mouth shut.

The demographics of that district have changed significantly enough to put it into play for the Democratic Party. This is happening all over the once solidly Republican Chicago suburbs, and the Tribune ran an article about it a few weeks ago. Many young Democratic-minded people are moving into the suburbs, and more congressional seats will go to the Democrats from suburban districts in the future.

But Oberweis is beating a dead horse.
Jack Ryan - the reason why this country won't have the first ever female president in January next year

As for the local dairy boy, a plastic surgeon and a debate coach would be very valuable additions to his team. Well, actually he might be better off investing in a brain surgeon instead.
