Hi,

We are moving to Burr Ridge with Elm elementary school, so closer to Hinsdale. Is there any way to get a parking permit at any of the Hinsdale train stations without being a resident of Hinsdale? Also, if we can't, how hard is it to get a spot at the stations without a permit?

We are about to put an offer down and love the house, but don't want it to be a hassle to find a spot everyday.

Thanks!

I love that part of Burr Ridge! The Highlands stop (at County Line Road and the tracks) has all metered parking. For Hinsdale, I've called and you have to be a resident to get village parking, but there are a number of churches that offer parking. Try the Hinsdale Unitarian church--I know someone who used to park there. Otherwise, Western Springs allows you to go on a waitlist that takes about 6 -9 months and La Grange always has parking available--you just need to go through their Village Finance department. Good luck!

You most certainly DO NOT need to be a Village Resident to use the meter spots at any of the three of the Hinsdale stops; I often find open spots at the main stop that can get me downtown on the 8AM train, it is a little tougher to find open spots at the main stop for the later trains, but both West Hinsdale and Highlands rarely "fill up"...

For longer term solutions you can get a permit from some of the organizations, like the previously mentioned Unitarian Church or the Lions Club in Clarendon Hills, prices compare very favorably with the municipal rates...
