I know they have one from Lake Bluff. Not sure if they have one from North Chicago.

They might if they have a lot of employees who take the train.
Thank you for the feedback nana053. I learned there's an Abbott shuttle taking people from the Metra Station to the Abbott Park office during rush hours and will add 10-15 mins to the total commute time. I am leaning more toward renting a place closer to work, giving myself time to adjust and know the environment. After a few months can look for something more permanent and further out.

If youre athletic enough, get a bike. They are allowed on Metra trains leaving Chicago before 3 P.M. Or arriving after 9 A.M. Ride the remaining miles. No waiting for the next shuttle.

I suspect only the near insane would dare venture out on bicycle in current sub-zero temperatures. The patches of refrozen ice that are common along road sides would likely cause some serious issues with bicycle stability as well. The OP should know that the routed from Metra to Abbott HQ is not conducive to bicycle-friendly drivers. Even in warmer weather the significant truck and high speed passenger vehicle traffic would cause one to sweat from fear / concentration.
