I'm making 2 trips on my own. I looked at the toll booth map on the Illinois State website. They list a bunch of toll booths but do not indicate which direction the booths are located. Also it doesn't indicate if the booth is on the tollway or on the off ramp. May not be reading it right. I need to know the toll booth rates and which toll booths, I will drive thru on the following trips:

A. Rt. 47/90 to 290 to 294 to US-20/95 St (Hickory Hills)

B. Rt 47/90 to O'Hare/US-45/US-12 E Mannheim Rd, Exit 2B
(going to River Rd in Schiller Park)

Will I pay the same number of tolls round trip? I'm sure someone has these toll booths memorized. Thanks.

Some tolls make you pay more depending on the area. Tolls are most likley on the highway.

p.s. Dont talk to the toll people, very rude!

A. Southbound:
Elgin Toll Plaza $1.50
Irving Park Road Toll Plaza $1.50
Cermak/22nd St Plaza $1.50
82nd St Plaza $1.50

Northbound:
83rd St Plaza $1.50
Cermak/22nd Plaza $1.50
Devon Plaza $1.50
Elgin Plaza $1.50

B. Southbound:
Elgin Toll Plaza $1.50
O'Hare West Plaza (on the ramp between I-90 and I-190) $1.50

Northbound:
Devon Plaza $1.50
Elgin Toll Plaza $1.50

=======================

Note that all these tolls are for CASH payment.
If you have an I-Pass, the tolls are HALF the above amounts.

Remember that if you are paying in cash, you have to pull off the
road to the right as you approach the toll plaza in order to access
the cash toll booths (it will look like you are exiting the tollway).
If you should accidentally go through an I-Pass only lane, make a note of the toll plaza number, date, and time, and promptly go to the Illinois Tollway web site to pay your toll. If you are more than 7 days late, a $25 fine per toll will be added. They will not be able to tell you which tolls you missed before the 7 day grace period is up, so it is up to you to have that information ready.

If you want to calculate the tolls on your own go to the Tollway Calculator.

Depending on the time of day, let us know if you want a non-toll alternate route.
The increase is so brazen, so Illinois-like, that when I have time I am taking alternate non-toll routes. I wonder how their price/margin bell curve graph is looking these days...........oh right, the appointees who approved this probably don't have an econ background or forgot their discussions on pricing and price elasticity.

Toll rates in general had not been increased in 28 years, while prices in general more than doubled. It was catching up for all those years.

And with a history of excellent financial responsibility
And with the promise years ago of converting to freeway
And with a history of being a job magnet for politically connected
They should have raised it incrementally over the next 10 years by, lets say $0.10 per booth.

Couldn't have said it better myself! My monthly tolls have gone from about 35 bucks to 70 bucks a month! Thank goodness I never have to slow down for traffic/congestion(which open road tolling was supposed to fix). I really appreciate having to have the same portion of the tollway done over several time (tri-state tollway O'Hare corridor I'm looking at you) because no one can figure out how many damn lanes we actually need.

Lastly...my favorite part is how people no longer understand that you can go through ALL toll booths if you have an I-Pass. you do not have to cross over four lanes and take out everyone in your path to get to the I-Pass lane (which are always more backed up than the cash booths).

Ok, I'm done...sorry this is off topic for the OP.
