Here's a long shot question! Does anyone know of (or remember) a lake in Illinois surrounded by woods with a large slide, it also had a snack area with bathrooms and an outside shower. It had to be along the north east side of the state. I can recall the lake from my childhood but no one from my family can remember the name or location. I'm going back to the very late 60's or very early 70's in memories, so again. it's a long shot question. Any suggestions?

The only lake I remember from the 1970s that had a slide was Crystal Lake. There was also Cedar Lake--dont' think either of these beaches is open to the public anymore.

Sounds like Holiday Park, now closed. But it could be one of many such places privately owned, open on a daily-fee basis. Liability and competition from more elaborate waterparks put them out of business.

There was Phil's Beach on Bangs Lake in Wauconda, IL. It was shown in the Blues Brothers movie.

Yes, I agree with the others. it sounds like Holiday park. My dad's company would have their company picnic there. I remember how hot that slide would get in the sun! We lived in Chicago at the time and
would drive out on Rand road. It seemed like it would take forever to get there. I have been thinking a
about that place lately also. I can not find any info about it either on the internet.

OMG Phil's Beach at Bang's Lake. That really brings back memories. There was only one slide in the water as I recall and I was scared to death to go on it. My father eventually took me a couple times and I still was petrified. What is there now? Probably developments and apts. I miss those good ole daz !

I remember Holiday Park. It had a lake and a few water slides. It was the exit just before the one for Great America. But I can't find any info on it either. Like it never existed. Weird!
