What can you tell me about Brookfield? I haven't been able to find much information about it... Is it run down?

Brookfield is most famous for the zoo, but actually a good residential area. Within easy traveling distance to such employment centers as Maywood and Oak Brook, or downtown Chicago, right on the BNSF line. And I have never lived there.

Brookfield is nice-looking and well situated. Don't know about the schools.

Default Not a bad option at all...

Like quite a few towns it is served by several different school districts. Portions share the desirable Riverside Elementary district -- closest to Zoo in "Hollywood section". Those kids then go to Riverside-Brookfield HS. Other portion also are served by that high school but rely on Brookfield Elementary. Another portion is served by Lyons Township High and has separate Elemenatry district.

Pretty well maintained, but different kinds of noshing stock in each section.

I live in Brookfield south of Ogden Ave. The kids in my area go to school in the LaGrange system, which is fabulous. I believe LT is just as great as RB (I am an RB grad), but due to No Child Left Behind tests, LT technically did not rate as well as RB. From what I understand, RB gave their special ed kids tests specifically designed for them, while LT chose to give their special ed kids the same tests as the mainstream kids take. Thus, the lower grades.

I live near cops and firemen and other professionals. I know all my neighbors. We look out for each other.
