Hello,
I am moving to Chicago for work in a few weeks. I'm going to be working in Rolling Meadows, but I am looking for a nearby town to live that will give me access to easy transportation potentially downtown if possible. I am in my late 20's and would like to live in an area with some nice night life while not too crazy. My girlfriend and I are looking to enjoy going out in the local area as well as easy metra access.

I'm looking around Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Mt Prospect, etc. Would anyone know which one or another one close to Rolling Meadows would be best to rent in and not live in an apartment complex. I'd rather live I'm really looking for a good community to be able to dine, drink, run, and just be affordable as well. If anyone has thoughts let me know.

Thanks,

Sounds like Arlington Heights would be perfect for you.

I would scond gramirez2012's recommendation. Look for homes to rent near the downtown. The downtown was recently revamped within the last 10 years and sees a lot of foot traffic going to the bars & restaurants there. There is also a metra train station there if you want to go to downtown Chicago.

You could also move up a little bit towards Palatine area , you will be close to metra and there are some nice living out that way.

I recommend Arlington Heights also. It's a nice area. If you are looking for something a little cheaper, but still ok there is plenty of housing in Rolling Meadows. It is halfway between arlington heights and schaumburg and you can go to either for enough nightlife to drive you crazy. Schaumburg has the mall too. Pretty much every town has a Metra station in that area for a nice ride downtown. Rolling Meadows is closer to I-90. Dont drink and drive in the suburbs, as they rely heavily on DUI's for revenue.
