So I am getting a new job in the lincolnshire, Illinois area, and am wondering where to live, if I want to still be close to a downtown area or somewhere that has a good nightlife, Wrigleyville/lincoln park may be too far im not sure?

Please give suggestions, I need safe, fairly reasonable ($800-$1200 rent) good nightlife, I will have a car to drive to work

Congrats on the new job. I lived in Lincoln Park/Lakeview and commuted out to Lincolnshire for 7 years. The commute is not fun, 45-60 minutes each way on normal traffic days and 75-90 on heavy days. However, being in your 20s and being in this area has many advantages especially if you are single.

You can find decent quality 1 bedrooms in the price range you quoted pretty much anywhere. Anything larger will depend on the area. If you choose the city, think about parking and proximity to get onto 90/94.

If that commute is too much for you and you want something more low-key compared to the city, other towns I would consider would be Schaumburg and Arlington Heights. Both have decent nightlife and a 30-45 minute commute to Lincolnshire by car. AH is a short metra ride into the city, but the age range is more 30-40 at most bars/clubs. Schaumburg clubs have a ton of 20 somethings. Personal opinion here, Schaumburg clubs are straight out of Jersey Shore and their bars/pubs are few and far between.

Good luck with the decision

Default Layout of expressways works against Evanston...

Despite the fact that Evanston is further north, it is also very far east, and the expressways angle NW/SE so that hurts commute. Frankly, even though Northwestern has some college students Evanston is expensive and not as appealing as Lakeview.

Glenview has no significant population of young singles, good for families though...
