Hello all, I will be moving to Chicago next week for graduate school. I will be taking classes in the evening twice a week. I have been looking for job everywhere, craigslist and monster.com have been my main websites to find jobs but to no avail. Do you guys know of any companies in the Chicago/Streeterville Area or Evanston and pays decently ($1000-$2000 a month) for a graduate student?

Look for job postings at your school, you might find stuff that isn't posted anywhere else online.

Default To make even $1000/mo at $8/hr ...

You will need to work over 31 hours a week to $1000/mo at $8/ hr. That won't be I impossible to find but I agree that utilizing campus resources would make much more sense -- if nothing else the person/ firm doing the hiring will know upfront that you are a grad student and may have time commitments for your studies. Frankly I would not want a job from an employer that did not know was in grad school as such a gig would not enhance my resume at all. Much better to get something that you can use to enhance your future employment prospects, ideally something that you at least have a shot at using to for "name recognition" if not leveraging into full time employment upon completion of your studies. Probably silly to limit yourself to "streaterville" too, as other than the Univeristy itself (especially the Hospitals...) employers are sparse in that section of Chicago compared to the brapder Loop. Similarly if you are willing to work in Evanston I would expand job search to basically cover the entire area that is reachable either by public transit or reasonable drive, which is pretty wide area indeed...

Trader Joes? Flexible shifts and they pay a little higher than minimum wage. Plus food discount I guess.
