The other day, I took a hike through some woods just north of Roosevelt Road and came across an abandoned water park that happens to be located on that big hill with the billboard on top just off Roosevelt and Route 83 in Oakbrook Terrace. I saw a total of 7 water slides and a wading pool, which includes two winding concrete slides, about 800 feet in length each, two enclosed tube slides that did underground loop de loops, two multi lane racer slides, and a smaller inner tube slide. All of which have been neglected for some time and have fallen into ruin. And if memory serves correct, I believe the name of this place was/is Ebenezer Floppen Slopper's Wonderful Water slides.

And? It apparently went out of business in 1990.

This place is pretty well known. Google it, and I'm sure you can come up with pictures. The Tribune even did an article about it a couple years ago.

Lucky you did not find something less pleasant that was "abandoned."

I found these photos on flickr from 2006. It's amazing how much the place has deteriorated.

You "discovered" nothing. Rte. 83 commuters see the hill and the slide every day if they care to look. I'm guessing you also think that Columbus "discovered" America.

Wow that's cool! I looked in that area on Google maps and you can still see the slides if you zoom in. It's right by the border of Villa Park and Oakbrook Terrace
