First posting here from a brand spankin' new member.

I grew up in Burbank Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. I moved into my own apartment about ten years ago, but then I lost my job. I've had several jobs since then, but never really made enough money to live on my own, so I've been bouncing around from place to place, relying on the hospitality of friends and family members.

Well, I'm 41 years old now, and I'm making a decent--but not good--living. I'm currently employed full time and living in a friend's basement in Evergreen Park. I've been here for about five years and it's time to move on. I love the family I'm with, I just feel like an single adult male like me needs a place of his own.

I'd like to stay close to this area, but I don't know where to look. I tried searching on line, but all the places I found were too expensive. I'm looking for a one bedroom apartment that allows pets. I have a cat and an iguana. (Don't panic. I've had the iguana for nine years and it only escaped once, and that was about nine years ago.) I want to live in a quiet neighborhood in a building with a parking lot so I don't have to hope for a parking space on the street. I'd also appreciate a laundry room and access to public transportation. That's not asking for much, is it?

Welcome to the forum.

If you provided a price range and if you are looking to live in the city or burbs that would help greatly. I am not sure what you mean by "this area."

I guess alot depends on how you make a living - meaning is your job keeping you south in the Evergreen Park area? It wouldnt be practical to move to say Des Plaines if you still plan on working in the southern burb area.
