Schaumburg credit union or bank recommendations? (Chicago, Palatine: moving, suburbs, deal)

Hello all!

Does anyone have any credit union or bank recommendations in Schaumburg? I will be moving there in October. I have always used credit unions and been fairly happy with them, but am open to suggestions of either sort. So far I have used my credit union for checking, savings, and a debit card.

We moved from the NW Chicago suburbs to Kansas three years ago, and we kept our bank: Harris Bank. They are in Palatine and are wonderful to deal with, for checking, savings, mortgage, debit card -- everything. It is a very sound organization, Canadian owned, I believe, and the people treat customers like a small-town bank would. I highly recommend Harris.

Thanks for your response! I have heard good things about two banks in the Schaumburg area now, one of them being yours. I have only ever used credit unions, and always heard that banks charge more fees because they are for-profit. It's good to hear this is more like a small-town bank. What has been your experience with fees and interest rates? Do they charge anything for checking or debit cards or that type of thing?
