I'm a ford guy, but the Chevrolet cruze looks like it fits my current needs. I would get one used becuase i never buy new cars. Its small, easy to drive, and you can find low mileage cruzes around 10k. What's the catch? Ive looked at reviews and they seem decent. Its not a beemer, but who cares. What's the catch? Is there some horrible defect I don't know about?
Also I was considering buying a $2000 Craig'slist car originally to save money, but everyone I know advised against it. They say it won't last past a year. I know it depends on the car but what's the stigma with dbuying a car off Craig's list.
I recently rented a VW Jetta and Chevy Cruze. Had grumbles about the Jetta but came away very impressed by the Cruze. Nice interior, fit & finish seemed decent and it drove well.
As far as CL beaters..If you know what you're looking at/for, you'll be alright..I've bought many $2k beaters off CL and never run myself into a bad situation with one.

Cruze is a pretty decent car.
The 2k car, off CL, is a crap-shoot. I wouldn't hesitate, myself, but if you're not a mechanic you should think long & hard before taking that plunge.
