I am considering relocating to Chatt. and have been looking through the MLS listings on the internet to get an idea about housing. It seems there are a lot of rivers, but I can't find any waterfront/view homes- I am doing searches with a max. price of $400K. Is anything with a waterview just way more expensive? I think we will be making a visit sometime on Oct-Nov. Any areas that we should be sure to look at?

Also, any comments about the accounting/cpa job market in Chatt?

Thanks for any help- love reading the forum and can't wait to visit.

Cortana

Default WORTH Searching around.

C: Going up in budget will indeed find bigger / newer stuff, but stuff is find - able if really desired. Last week a friend re-offered his building lot to me for $60K. Sale creek / Dayton area. Next door is $100k real - estate multiple listing.
Some private sign stuff in Possum cove recently went about $125k. Can you design / build your size for another $300 k .? i AM NOT IN THE BUSINESS, but have a few church friends who own water-front. There is a slight difference in summer water ( cove drains down in winter with TVA, but can do work on your shoreline), or main channel ( year around dock launching)
so need your choices. There are always older / smaller camps , senior citizens, that sell out ,(Usually word of mouth). We spent a wonderful visit in Spring City (Watts Bar Lake) where friends bought a house(West water / mtn / sunset view) on the hill, but also have a 70x70' covered boat house lot only about 200 yards away down street. Believe lower tax set-up?
The river is beautiful here and will help a fellow boater / kayak if you wish north of the city dam..... .[/IMG]

Cortana,
Try Lake Resort Drive--over by the dam--Heritage Landing downtown. I moved from downtown four years ago and still miss it. Downtown Chattanooga is the most user-friendly city I have ever seen. As for accounting jobs--wasn't too great for me that's why I moved to Augusta to work. But I was forced back into the work world due to circumstances beyond my control but looking forward to retiring in a couple of years and Chattanooga here I come again! Be sure to try "Rembrandt's" (coffee house) downtown. Good luck.

I am also curious about the accounting market in chatt. So far I've seen many sole practicioners, and the firms that have multiple employees like Decismo, & Henderson, Hutcheson rarely have turnover. It seems like mabye opening your own gig should be laid on the table. That's what I'm considering.

I read your post. We currently have a beautiful waterfront home for sale on Watts Bar (Spring City area). You can look at our website:
www.wattsbarhome.com (http://www.wattsbarhome.com - broken link)

Good luck to you. We absolutely love the lake and area, just buying a differnt home.

Well if you had a couple mil lying around there are some beauties in Riverview or Battery Park. In Chattanooga downtown about the only thing you might find for that price with a view of the river is a condo. People are right about the other areas, but some of them are not really in Chattanooga.

In that price range, though, you could probably find a nice home within walking distance to the lake in the Hixson area which is maybe 15 mins from downtown.

My wife and I are interested buying a true Lakefront Home or lot on Chickamauga Lake. We already own a beautiful lake view lot in Soddy Daisy. We would be willing to sell or trade it toward the lot or home. Our price range is between 200k--500k. If anyone has any contacts or know of something please Reply back. Thanks!!
