Hello all. I am currently working as an attorney Tampa but my wife and I are looking to move to Tennessee in the next few years. Can anyone suggest some good towns/areas that are within a reasonable (45-60 min) daily commute to Chattanooga? We would like to purchase 50-100 acres of land to build on. Thanks for any suggestions.

Default Dunlap.?

U: Welcome.. I believe anything with that much acreage would be North West of Chatt towards the Dunlap valley.. This would be up along route # 28 ,just inside the Central time zone.

That would be in the Sequatchie Valley of Dunlap for sure but tracks that large don't come along too often. I have 15 for sale there.

Default Soddy Lake / River.?

U: Dont know what type of farming you desire, but just remembered about a 100 acre + tract that is near us that borders on summer water cove. . Assume 80 or more years ago was a working farm , there are some open flat areas.. Most of it wooded and some sloped hills, down to water.

. Actually a Dr neighbor flys a seaplane thru.. Deer for winter..Had been advertised in the past. . This would be off paved hwy #27. .. Great for horses as some hiking trails thru out. . As in pic below nice for canoe / kayak , wildlife bird / fish camp.

Would actually just be a hobby farm. We would like to keep horses, some goats, chickens, some dairy cattle, etc. Not a major farming operation, just a small family farm. I guess more importantly to us than the acerage (I know I initially said 50 acres but would be happy with 15-25) would be areas that aren't going to have any restrictions as to types of homes that can be built (we plan on building a 2500-3000 sf modular home) and what can be kept on the land. Thanks again!

You should be fine in any of those areas.

If you don't mind being out of state there's lots of land just over the state line on Sand Mountain in Alabama and in Georgia. Both of which are still close to the city
