So Lovingston is 45 minutes to Charlottesville?...or Lynchgurg? I'm happy to hear that you enjoy living in Lynchburg. We'll be visiting @ Thanksgiving, so I will have a chance to check it out again. Do you have kids? Have you heard anything about the gym I mentioned? How about the schools...know anything about them? I promise I will stop flooding you with questions....you've just been soooo helpful! :0)

Lovingston to Barracks Rd (one of the main shopping areas) in Cville-35 min.
Lovingston to downtown Lburg- 35 min
Lovingston to west side of Lburg city- 45 min
Lovingston to Forest (western suburb of Lburg) ~ 1 hr.
Lynchburg is much more spread out than Cville, but several expressways make the commute pretty easy.

We have 2 children- 3 and 6. Our youngest attends a 2 day/wk preschool, while our 6 year old started at New Covenant, a local classical school. Having some background in education, I'm pretty sold on classical curriculum. New Covenant is reasonable in cost- ~ 6000/yr., and has a sister school in Cville called Covenant (though the Cville school is running ~ 12000/yr from what my friend has told me). Other options for young students include several of church related schools, an excellent Catholic school and James River Day School (k-8). The city public system is better than average and provides opportunities that outlying school districts can't afford to provide.
Don't worry about asking questions- I'm glad to help out.

I have also heard that Lynchburg schools are better than average. For instance they teach Suzuki violin in all the elementary schools and Glass High School is consistantly on the list of top U.S. public high schools. I think it would be helpful to hang out in each town/city for a while. Lovingston Cafe is quite nice. Lovingston Motel is modest but nice. Each room has an original mural painted by the motel owner. The library is part of the Charlottesville area system.
