My daughter date of birth falls on oct-3. So she will have to wait one more year for her kindergarten under CMS(the cut-off date is aug-31). One of my friends is telling me that there is an early enrollment program available. I would like to know more about this. Any information is greatly appreciated. Please...............
It may well be a *very* good thing that your daughter should be among the oldest in her class.
Bottom line, I wouldn't push for early enrollment as a means of getting her ahead... she'll likely stay ahead of her peers (and receive extra resources) due to her advanced maturity if she stays with the class she's designated to enroll with.
there is a program called More at Four & also Bright Beginnings through Charlotte Meck. schools that you can apply for. They are great programs, my son attended First Ward through the More at Four program and he followed the CMS curriculum ( he is in kind. and is a very fluent reader and excels academically) Great program to get your child prepared for school!
I'd love to do the same with my daughter also. I think that for girls, it really does not matter if you are the youngest, and Kindergarten curriculum is so easy, its bored my older ones.
You can get her tested (on your dime) and if she gets very high scores, and you have two letters of references and demonstrate emotional maturity, THEN it is up to your principal's discretion. It is not easy, but here is the link.

WOW! That is such a blanket statement. DO what you will, but being a successful student has SOOOOOOOOO much more to do with maturity and social skills than intellect alone.
The cut offs exist for a reason. The CMS system has som great pre-k programs for kiddos just like this! Good luck.
i wouldn't, My daughter's birthday is Oct 11, but made the previous 10/15 cutoff. Unfortunately a lot of kids are held back a year by their parents, so in 2nd grade she is just turning 7 while other kids are turning 9 later in the year. it is a real disadvantage, especially past kindergarten, and that's where she would have an advantage of missing the cutoff.
My daughter was accepted to one of the top private schools in Charlotte who recommended a transitional kindergarten year for her. Her birthday is August 27. I figured the professionals knew better than I did what the best approach would be for her. Intellectually she was ready for kindergarten.
They were absolutely right. She is 15 now and I have never regretted that decision for a second.
