Can you convince the moms to "stick with it" if they are rezoned? Rama, McClintock and East Meck would all be phenomenal schools if the families zoned there would just attend as zoned. You can be the difference!
My kid is currently zoned to Myers Park but I suspect it will change (maybe a couple times) before they are high school age. If it changes, we're going where-ever we're redistricted and I'm going to rally hard to assuage the fear of the alternative in other moms. I don't know how successful I will be though...the fear is real.
