Can anyone recommend a fun family location to see fireworks this 4th? It will be our first full weekend in Charlotte, so even though we will be unpacking we need to take some time out for the kids too!

July 3rd is the free Pops in the Park concert with good fireworks (at Southpark Mall)
Charlotte Symphony Orchestra (http://www.charlottesymphony.org/Summer.asp - broken link)
This is a must but get there plenty early for a good spot!

4th of July fireworks in Charlotte are launched in uptown. Red White and Boom! info.

Quote:
Red, White and Boom! 2009 presented by Lance fireworks show will be approximately 20 minutes long. The show begins at 9:30pm (weather and fire department clearance permitting). The show will be synched to a music track that will be heard exclusively on 96.9 FM WKKT, The Kat and played live at all viewing venues.

The show can be viewed from a variety of locations around the city. If you are in the eastern part of the city and you can see the skyline, chances are, you can see the fireworks display.

You can watch them from the parking lot at the Southpark Mall and other areas with a good view of uptown.

I was thinking of going to the Charlotte Knights baseball game. Last I read they are having fireworks after the game.
