Hello!

I'm new here, and I have a REALLY dumb question:

What are the little beige, blue, and red envelopes (with or without "papers" in them, with or without arrows on them) that are next to each thread's title/subject line on the main thread listing page of the message board? I'm sure they're there for a reason, but I can't figure out what they mean.

I know, dumb question...but could you enlighten me?

If that's a dumb question, then call me dumb because I don't know either.

If the envelope is red it means it's a "hot topic" with a lot of views. Beige envelope, not a ton of views yet.

If the envelope has a letter in it, it means there is a new post since you last logged on. No letter, no new posts.

If there is a little arrow on the envelope, it mean you replied to that thread.

Thankx!! Makes sense...Actually could be useful.

Funny how the little things drive you crazy when you can't figure them out!

If you go to the bottom of the main page that lists all the threads in a particular forum, you will see what each one means. The ones that have locks on them mean they've been closed.

Default Green dots

OK, I knew all that...but what about the green dots? What do those mean? How do folks get those? Is there an instruction page somewhere that we all missed in our haste to share our opinions? LOL!

The green boxes are earned based on reputation points. The higher the reputation, the more green boxes you earn....

My reputation is lower than everyone else's. How do I get a higher number? Is it just because I'm new, or does it mean I don't have a good reputation?

And if it has a lock on it, means it's closed and you can't reply to the thread.
