Will Smith is making a stop in Charlotte Thursday:
Smith's itinerary for the day is still being worked out, though it's likely to include interview times and a visit to one public school. The big event begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, when the theater in the Stonecrest shopping center (at Rea Road near the I-485 exit) will host a red-carpet gala.
There Smith will donate the turkeys to Second Harvest. The red-carpet presentation is open to the public. Guests will include Carolina Panthers players Steve Smith and Julius Peppers, NASCAR driver Richard Petty, Mayor Pat McCrory and other celebrities.
Starting at 2 p.m. that day, the first 1,000 people to bring at least one non-perishable food item to the Regal Stonecrest will receive a pass to see Smith's film, which opens Dec. 19. You can watch the red-carpet presentation whether you bring food or not.
