I do Holiday Village displays & usually build the bases for them with styrofoam, but Michael's want $13.00 per sheet That adds up really fast. Does anyone know where I can get thick sheets of styrofoam for less? Or even rigid foam insulation? I prefer white because it's easier to work with, but it can be any color.

Has anyone noticed any new construction sites that are using thick foam? I'm not above "dumpster diving" for discarded pieces, lol. Sometimes the construction crews are nice & give you what they're not using before they dump it.

Just getting into the Christmas Spirit! TIA!

Hi Rosie, just popped in to look something up and saw your query and just happen to know... Lowes sells sheets of it (rigid insulation). I bought some 4-paks last year - sized 1' x 4', about an inch thick. They may have larger sizes if you need. Not very expensive. You can find it in the contractor supply area - insulation aisle. Hope this helps. Good luck with your projects.

THANKS for the replies! I do know about the 1" thick foam they sell at Lowes. They would work but I'd have to glue several pieces together for some of the elevations that I'd need. I'm trying to not have to do that. I forgot about appliance stores, I'll have to check them out!

Did you price AC Moore? They are usually cheaper. I don't know if they have what you want online....... http://www.acmoore.com/default.aspx

BxRosie,

Do you still need styrofoam? I have several large sheets I'd like to get rid of. I'm in Northeast Charlotte.
