I have been given the option of relocating within Company to Charlotte, an opportunity that wife and I are seriously considering. Work will be on N. Tryon Street (banking). We are looking to move down from Boston with toddler in January and have done some research on line, but local knowledge is preferable.
So, looking for the same things that everyone else is looking for:
- Safe neighborhood
- reasonable commute time (under 45 minutes)
- houses priced between $365-$425k
Will likely rent apartment/home for first three months, but would prefer to start off in a "good" neighborhood. So given these details, what would be your top three neighborhoods to look at and any detail you can give would be greatly appreciated.
check local taxes too - they vary from county to county (and within county, also, depending on incorporated and unincorporated areas...) we are partial to lake wylie (SC) area.
On the south side of town, consider Beverly Crest and Providence Plantation (area 4), the Ballantyne area (several communities may work), Western Union (Hunter Oaks & Somerset). There are many choices you will have in your price range.
Great suggestions so far! To get a little closer in, you may want to look at Old Salem, Old Farm. You might be able to get in there with your price range. Good luck!
Just FYI, a 45 minute commute will get you as far out as north Gaston County (country living)...maybe even Lincoln County (even more country living in the hills of the mountains). Being centrally located with work, your options are wide open. Plus, express bus routes (pretty much non-stop buses) run all through downtown (especially in front of the big banks), so you might even have the option to not even drive into work and have reliable transit.
Your price range is way above my head, so I can't relate to it and offer suggestions.
Much appreciated all. I figure if I have a couple of neighborhoods with which to start, I can branch out from there... But as I am planning on renting/leasing for six months, it gives me time to "get to know the area"... which just leaves finding an area to rent!
Again. Thanks
