An advice for an apartment in the uptown area? My daughter and her friend are both first year teachers relocating from the north. They are looking for somewhere safe and reasonable.

I was looking at apartments uptown last weekend. I'd suggest looking into private rentals. I've found that the apartments cost more than renting a condo from an individual. Camden Cotton Mills wanted over $1300 for a 1 bedroom. I can get into 5th & Poplar for that much. Also, none of them had much available. But good luck!

Have you tried Rent.com? I am also looking to relocate to that area and I have seen some things there for $800 or less

I'd be real careful renting in the uptown area for less than $800 a month - please come back on here and let us know addresses of such places so we can tell you what we know about them okay?

I won't give exact locations for whatever reason.

Crosland has some places uptown. I know there is some assistance with getting an apartment for CMS teachers. Maybe even have something affordable in aug.

If it's $800/month in uptown you should question it.

You might be able to get a small studio for around $800 in one of those complexes uptown. But anything else at that price and you should be careful. Now, you can find something decent around that price in Dilworth or Elizabeth, which are nice neighborhoods very close to downtown.

You might be able to get a Studio for $800. Make sure the apartment is "in" Uptown...not "near" Uptown. That is a big difference. ALL Uptown addresses for residences will have a ZIP code of 28202 ONLY!

Uptown is quite safe!

GOOD LUCK!

The problem is this poster is looking for an apartment for two young ladies coming to NC to teach - they most likely each want their own bedrooms!

That is why I was warning them that they might get a Studio for $800.

If they got a 2 Bedroom...they can expect to pay at least $1,200 - $1,500 easily for a nice place.

7 oh 4, which particular apartments would you recommend to this mom for her daughter and her friend as newcomers if they wanted to live uptown?
