Hey!

My Fiance and I are relocating to the Charlotte area. Probably looking to be about 20-30 minutes away from the actual city. Right now im looking into the Harrisburg area. From what i've read it seems to be a nice place to live. Any other recommendations of where i should look?

Huntersville area is nice too. As well as Concord. Price range and job location can determine a ton.

We're looking to rent at first. Between 900 and 1100 are what we are looking to be spending. I would probably be commuting to the city for work also.

I would call some of the bigger rental agencies such as TR Lawing etc. OR you could search rentals at CarolinaHome.com

20 - 30 minutes with no traffic, or 20-30 minute 9AM/5PM commute? cause believe me, you ain't gettin to most of those places in 20 or 30 minutes after work. You can't leave the city limits in 20-30 minutes after work unless you're headed to Fort Mill. Anything North, especially on 85, is gonna take a while.

20 -30 minutes no traffic. I don't mind traffic if im living in a nice area. I am coming from Long Island NY so taking 45 minutes to go 15-20 miles is the norm

Depending on what roads you are taking and what time it is and where you are going to/coming from, it can take an hour - an hour and a half to go 25 miles. I base that on the numerous times I have sat in traffic heading to Monroe, NC and Concord, NC.

In my opinion, the easiest commute to a nice Charlotte suburb these days is Fort Mill. You can get from uptown Charlotte to most places in Fort Mill (downtown FM and anything south/west of there) in less than 30 minutes in traffic.

I'd give that a couple years, though, and it will be bad like the rest.

Fort Mill is the best suburb south of Charlotte, in my opinion.

The only problem with Fort Mill is that it lacks some of the conveniences that Concord, Monroe, and Gastonia have (certain stores and whatnot). You can always go into Charlotte. Also, Rock Hill is an easy, traffic free 10 minute drive away, which has everything when you dont feel like fighting your way into Charlotte.

Fort Mill has great schools and seems to have very friendly residents. There are a few different "districts" to choose from, but they all are great. I would definitely recommend it.
