GOOD LUCK!
I don't mind commuting. My wife does. Anyway, part of the reason that we're moving to Charlotte is to be able to buy for $650,000 or so a beautiful newish, 5,000 s.f. house. A $650,000 house in Weddington Chase or Brookhaven would cost double the price in Myers Park. Nevertheless, Myers Park is very beautiful.

This house in Brookhaven is only $547,000.

These two in Weddington Chase are $559,000 and 599,000, respectively.

For these prices, one could buy only a bungalow in Myers Park. I'm willing to commute and listen to the BBC during my ride.
