Just wondering if anyone could help me out here. I am looking for a reliable computer repair person. I know there is geek Squad at Best Buy but I was wondering if anyone know of other reliable techs. Thank you for your help.

I can't help you with the charlotte area, but as a rule I would avoid the Geek Squad type of repair if at all possible and find an independently owned shop.

I have worked in computers for well over 30 years, I teach networking and PC Repair, and I get a number of students that work for independent vs. chain "PC repair shops".

You will get much better service from an independent shop and at a better price. Geek Squad and similar techs may be well qualified to fix your problem, but they also are rated in their job on how much they can sell in the way of upgrades and services that are often totally unnecessary.

The second post here is a great example, I bet that "great guy" is a local entrepreneur that is providing a great deal of value to consumers. They have to or they quickly go out of business, as word of mouth will make them or break them.

I generally tell people to ask around for college students, independants, or if there is an IT dept. where they work, ask the IT people. The chain people are a last resort, unless you're dealing with a warrantee that involves them..
